We incubate eggs at 99.5°F and 55% humidity. Fertilization rates can vary, particularly as breeding hens age. In our experience, eggs from younger hens tend to demonstrate higher fertility, with viability gradually declining during the second and third years of production. While some chicks hatch on the standard 21-day schedule, most Pavlovskaya chicks benefit from an additional day in the hatcher and often emerge on day 22.

When hatching Pavlovskaya chicks, inspect each bird for the breed’s defining characteristics: fully feathered legs, a well-developed beard, and a crest. While these traits are less pronounced in young chicks, they should still be identifiable.

Particular attention should be given to the crest. Chicks should not exhibit a vaulted skull, which is often indicated by an excessively large or bulbous crest.
