That’s why we’ve hand-selected breeds that are friendly, hardy, and perfect for small- to medium-sized coops—ideal for beginners and seasoned keepers alike.
Breeds that we consider to be great for beginners include: Bantam Bielefelder, Crele Bielefelder, and Silver Bielefelder, Silver Laced Barnevelder, Lavender and Split Lavender Wyandotte, Light Sussex, Mechelen Turkey Head, Pavlovskaya, black and red mottled Pita Pinta Asturiana, Wheaten Sulmtaler, and Niederrheiner. If there’s a breed you’re hoping for, please mention your preference in the notes at checkout — we’ll do our best to accommodate, though we can’t guarantee specific selections in an assortment.
Orders of 1–3 chicks are guaranteed to include at least one breed. Orders of 4–5 chicks will include a minimum of two breeds, and orders of 6 or more chicks will feature at least four different breeds. We always strive to provide as much variety as possible. You are also welcome to mix and match breeds or assortments to meet our six-chick shipping minimum.
