We’ve created this assortment to feature the best laying breeds from our farm, each typically producing 200 or more eggs per year. Beyond their productivity, these breeds represent important heritage and rare lines, so every chick you raise helps support poultry conservation.
The assortment is selected from the following breeds: 55 Flowery Hen, White Bresse, Large Fowl Bielefelder, Cream Legbar, Deathlayer, Gauloise Dorée, Icelandic, Light Sussex, Marans, Mechelen Turkey Head, Pheasant Fowl, Pita Pinta Asturiana, Silverudd's Blue, Svarthona, and Vorwerk. Please view the images on this page to see examples of the breeds you may receive. Because this is an assortment, the exact breeds included will depend on the hatch. If there is a specific breed you hope to receive, please note that in your order—we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Most chicks will be shipped as unsexed, as our farm does not vent sex. Breeds that are auto-sexing—55 Flowery Hen, Bielefelder, and Cream Legbar—will be sexed, and we will include only female chicks unless you request males. Please indicate in the order notes if you would like auto-sexing male chicks included.
You may add as many or as few as you like to your cart. Orders of 1–3 chicks or eggs are guaranteed to include at least one breed, 4–5 chicks or eggs will include at least two breeds, and 6 or more will include at least four breeds. We always strive to provide as much variety as possible. You are also welcome to mix and match breeds or assortments to meet our 6-chick shipping minimum.
